Smithfield (Dublin) Horse Market

Every first Sunday of the month, the horse traders from Dublin and surrounding areas come together and sell and buy horses on Smithfield Plaza. This tradition is in place for many many years and after the modernisation of Smithfield Plaza, Dublin City tried to move the market to another location. This has not been successful yet and consequently the horse market is still a monthly feature in the City Centre. It starts relatively early in the morning and goes on until all traders have left, which is around 13:00. If you want to experience this somewhat anachronistic event, you should consider coming relatively early. I would recommend around 09:00-10:00 experience it at its peak.
