@Gary1497 Well most of them only used one channel because at the time their were no 5 gain stage super amps like their is today. That being said I do agree these amps sound best.
My problom with my Blackheart Handsome Devil is that when I have the volume cranked up at about half and the drive up the signal doesnt clear up all that much with guitar volume. It is a single channel amp.

These amps are fricken loud. I have a white 1982 anniversary model (bought new). Depending on make of year, they came with a variety of different 12" celestions. Mine have the G12T-75's in it...very pleased. :)

Exact same amp as my old JCM except mine has just the one speaker. The greatest Rock amp ever made, forget all this 5 channels crap with clean, od1, od 2, super high gain and all this nonsense. One good Marshall single channel amp is all you need. Good enough for Hendrix, Clapton, and all the rest.

@minpinful I have 4 Marshalls': 4 vintage Fenders; and a Roland Mini Cube (for practice). So I'm an Equal Opportunity Employer. Been through many, many guitars/amps in my years but, for me, Marshall and Fender have it locked up as Winners of the Century.
Cheers!

Is this a 4104?

Adding a simple OD to these amps doesn't give you the Zakk Wylde gain, yet zakk says all he does is boosts the JCM800's gain with an OD pedal.. What the fuck

JCM800 - the greatest amp every made!

Must...get...buy I'm not seeing anyone sell one anywhere =/
How does this compare to a (year 1978)JMP50 combo. I need to get a backup amp and it has to be an older marshall. Their new stuff just doesnt cut it...

Yeah, the JMP has slightly less gain on tap that this baby. And EQ is a bit more tricky on the 50 watt combos (mine was anyway) and it sounded slightly thin and thrashey.... good for punk or grunge, but not as good at classic rock or blues, which is where I'm at.

Well spotted! I forgot that myself... If you're getting a JCM800 get the vertical input, not the horizontal, later version. I had a 50 watt head, nowhere near as good as this combo. Get a pair of Vintage 30's too, and you'll never sell it!
