If you truly love yourself, losing someone else would not totally wreck you. You would realize they left you because they weren't good enough and you deserve better. If they passed on, well that's a different story, but not one that either of these books really deal with. So yeah, Bella is a pretty bad step backwards for fictional females.

I don't deny that teen angsty-ness is easy to relate to, but Stephanie Meyer just took bad writing to a whole other level. There's nothing wrong with holding on dearly to love, but Meyer wrings that feeling for all it's worth. As a side note, I deeply doubt if Bella and Edward even loved each other. How much do they know about each other? Love isn't the intrigue of the unknown or novel, it's the unison of mind and body. So really, Bella's angst was painfully overdone and fake.

Whoever made the pic at 0:34 is wrong about Hermione....she actually cried every night and Harry would have to comfort her to get her to continue. She was broken when he left.

I know how you say that Bella's reaction to losing the love of her life is realiztic and "healthy" but she didnt love herself. She had no self esteem! I love twilight and Harry Potter and I feel that Hermoine did mourn but she did it in her own way. And she went on with life because some people need goals to work on to help them regain hope. I like that the character hermoine not only had love for Ron but she had love for herself.
Have you even read HP? You're acting like Hermione didn't feel pain when Ron left. She cried for a long time, she was hurt, but she fought for the greater good despite the pain. Not only that, but she's a girl who survived in a world full of dark wizards and horrible monsters. And there's tons of love in Potter, finding what really matters, and exploring different kinds of love (family, romantic, etc), but Twilight's lust.. Hermione was more relate-able and realistic than Bella ever will be.
