Is your houseplant not looking too great? Are your patio containers wilting? Has a plant simply outgrown its pot but you don't want to move it to a larger one?

Trisha Shirey explains how to rejuvenate a container plant by dividing it or cutting its root ball. When plant roots get too cramped, it's hard for them to take in water and nutrition. Trisha demonstrates how to revive an aloe vera, a sansevieria, an aglaonema, and a Boston fern.

She also explains how to clean your containers of mineral residue.

  • How can I contact Trisha? I want to know how to take a cutting from my friends aloe vera plant and root the cuttings? I'm hoping someone can give me an answer that will apply to many types of plants and flowers like The Oleander plant as well. any ideas are appreciated.

  • i have the exact same situation could you please tell me what you did .......

  • Please see the above answer!

  • It's very easy to divide aloe. Dig up and gently pry the roots apart. Replant. Be careful not to overwater! Not sure how to divide oleander. . .

  • Why not use compost?

  • Like the presentation and found it interesting. Can you tell me where I can get used plastic nursery pots in the Houston area? After watching all your wonderful videos, I now would like to divide and take cuttings of my plants but, lack plastic pots. Keep up the good work.

  • Excellent. Most informative, well presented, concise and with a pleasant, expressive voice. Lovely.

  • Thanx so much - originally I was jus looking on how to separate a plant from a pot but I think I ended up learned so much of plants that I didn't know before. c:
