  • I'm considering a similar setup on my new MB Pro 15, the currently selling model with the 2,4 i7 too.

But i wanted to know, how your battery time was compared to using bootcamp vs. virtuel desktop

  • @TheMacnerd01 Sorry, I very rarely use Bootcamp so have no real opinion.

  • @Drfranze1000 For me, yes. Once you've used a machine with an SSD, going back to a normal drive feels very lethargic. I need the RAM for my virtual dev environments, so for me the extra RAM is great. Can understand most people won't need that much however.

  • @MacRs4 Sick..... thats all im saying.........

  • @Maschil Aye...Is a very nice machine to use.

  • @Dfranze1000 SSD definitely and without question. The 16Gb is more a question of usage - I use virtualisation a lot so the RAM is essential for me, may not be for others?

  • @MacRS4 Thats awesome. Do you think it is worth the upgrade for a SSD and a 16gb ram upgrade. :)

  • @joeallev1 My guess is Apple only offered 8Gb upgrade as up until recently supply of the 8Gb So-Dimms was massively restricted - they were over 1000US$ only a month or so ago. The chip-set fully supports 16Gb. The iMac for example has the same upgrade restriction on the site and yet takes 32Gb by installing 4 x 8Gb SO-DIMMS.

  • @Dfranze1000 Thanks. G/b score is 11,700 which isn't too shabby. 3.4Ghz iMac Quad Core comes in at 12,776. 2.4Ghz i5 13" MBP is 6790.

  • What is your geekbench score. Great video by the way. :)

  • The people at Apple told me this machine was only upgradeable to 8gb memory. I will never believe the manufacturer again,or would that be uneducated salespeople?
