I talk about Appalachian lullabies, Alex, and his acting. The "way of life" I was referring to in my video of singing the old folk music while working is an old way of life. I am not sure if it is still alive today, however. I learned the music from some of my people, plus musicians like Jean Ritchie, Doc Watson, the Carters, etc.

  • Whoa! im actually working on a scene in that play for my drama class. and i get to play Barbara and the Fair Witch. It's a really interesting play.

  • It's a great play isn't it? Congrats on getting the roles you got. They're good ones. Can you post pix of the set or the set with actors on it? It would be cool to compare!

  • I watched the Michael Garvin video.

    He's awesome! I subscribed! :c)

I never heard Appalachian lullabies before. My favorite lullaby to sing is 'Tell Me Why.' It's an American Traditional lullaby. :c)

I'll have to check out the 'Appalachian sound' more, as I get time!

    Enjoyed the video, my friend!

  • Also listen to some of Jean Ritchie's music.

  • I just finished a production of Dark of the Moon. This is exactly what we were talking about before we learned the music. It's nice to hear it again :).

  • I don't think they talked much about it before the learned the music in the production my son was in. I don't think the music person knew anything about that style of singing. My son did, though, because he's heard it his whole life from me.

  • We actually didnt do the whole play but i wish we did, We only had once scene because it was a class project that had to be filmed to show our progress throughout the class. and it really is a fun play the three of us who did it had a lot of fun figuring out how to portray the characters, what they were feeling, because it was when Barbara figures out John was a witch and the two other Witches come and talk to him in the wood area and stuff.

  • Oh well.

  • gross

  • Music is my life! You're right, it's the best thing ever.
