Martin Zsrčković comes home after a long night of drinking. He looks for his keys. He opens the door. He takes off his shoes and puts on his slippers... It all appears to be normal, but underneath this normality, nothing is ordinary. When he goes to sit, a chair is placed under him. When he wants a cup of coffee a cup appears in his hand. His coat is removed and hung up for him. He stumbles, is caught, is placed back on his feet—
The world happens to him. More and more his ideas, images, and fantasies materialize around him and pulls into suction of options, which he follows fascinated, They are always happening momentarily... who comes out of the moment. He is moved (emotionally) as a witness and can watch how he is going deeper and deeper into a stream of snap-shots of his exsistance.
Everything around is in motion. Strange characters appear and Martin becomes a witness to scenes from his own life being transformed more and more into something between fantasy and reality. His world continues to surprise him with new images, ideas, and fantasies that materialize around him.
The Last Dance of Martin Zsrčković Is filled with objects. A considerable amount of cardboard and wooden wine crates create the setting. sometimes covering the whole stage and gets continuously moved and transformed by the performers. Objects of daily life are representing Martin's world. They inhabit the stage as if they have their own life. It is the armchair dancing with the fridge, with the key, with Martin, with life.
An interplay between Martin's inside impulses and those outside create more possible outcomes -- a fast kaleidescope of possibilities -- odd, touching, comic, and tragic.
Martin's first entrance poetically places him on stage; tip toeing through the darkness on unstable ground. He is taken by strange happenings and continues forward constantly surprised. He clings to a lamp, his comforting possession, that follows him through the whole evening. Suddenly he looses his foothold and gets sucked into this strange universe under his feet, falling from his reality into a surreal world.
This piece tells a story and this story takes a turn for the absurd. We follow a reality that is falling apart, reappearing and resolving into something new. There is a grey line between reality and the imaginary that is played with throughout the piece. Boiling over, rhythm and dance heighten the adrenaline in the audience and invite them on an intense journey that is not without emotion. It is profound with different layers of meaning: generous, human, and touching.
