Each year, more than 13,000 babies are born in the U.S. either deaf or with severe hearing loss. It used to be doctors would only use cochlear implants on patients 18 years or older. Now, some doctors say the sooner kids have the surgery, the better - even if they're only a few months old.
Tsk...poor kids. When they grow up, they would decide whether use cochlear or not. It is up to them. Deaf ROCK!

We were fortunate to meet Dr. Kang of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, and to be friends with Jonah's family. Thank you all for your hard work and help.

I am a long-term CI user, and I am about to graduate as an audiologist. I couldn't have achieved half of what I have in life without the CI. Good on the parents here!

Both of our boys were implanted under 12 months, one at 9 months (in 2001) and the other at 6 and 11 months very recently. We are very pleased, and our older son has had age appropriate speech for years. It is very true that implanting infants makes language acquisition easier and faster!
