Basilone was a great man and a military legend, but for the sake of the actual series, his storyline really messed up the pacing of the entire mini-series. Give him a movie based on his exploits to do him justice, because none of the real fighting men in the Pacific, including him, were afforded any.

I visited John Basilone's grave yesterday at Arlington National Cemetery and laid some flowers there. I felt like I wasn't even worthy of standing there at his resting place. God bless you John, and thank you for sacrificing all of your tomorrows so we can have our today's. You're just as big a hero today as your were 60 years ago.
