I had 2 friends that died with Kyu Sakamoto on that faithful day and every time I hear this song it make me think how precious life is and how grateful I am to still be here. RIP Mako, Kim & Kyu

Wow! Kyu looked so young at that time!He sang the song sadly on the show which was different from the video version.Anyway,I love his singing ！No other versions could be compare with his! His wife is beautiful.Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this video.Kyu-chan was a very special person. I like very much his joy and his wonderful smile :-) But especially when listening to his songs and knowing about the tragic end of his life (and that of so many other victims of this terrible crash) I always feel grateful to be alive. For the people who know only Sukiyaki ;-), check his other songs on YT and don't miss 太陽と土と水を/坂本九 Maybe the happiest song ever and such a beautiful message for all of us !!!

@margolou2010 Thank you so very much for your comment. If we want to or not it's always been one day at a time. Ever since I was a young boy I've always love the "Sukiyaki " song not only do I have it in my computer, iPod & 1950's juke box and can listen to it any time I want. I know that even till this day Kyu Sakamoto is the only Japanese person to have a #1 hit on the U.S. Billboard charts. That is a great honor to him. I thanks the person who posted this very rare clip and sharing it with us

I still think back to 1963 and how all of the United States fell in love with this song even though we had no idea what the words meant.
