Religion is nothing but an explanation of things happening all around us that ppl of that time simply expressed by using tales and myths based on these things. Thats the way gods are borned. Part of that myths and tales was Zeus lust for womans. That’s the reason many young Greeks think they were the sons of a God. At the risk of speaking up in an irony-free zone, I must raise a hand for those Jews, like me, proud of our secular, cosmopolitan heritage who probably would have been among the Hellenized Jews who suffered at the hands of the Maccabbees. Jewish history and culture is so rich and inexhaustible that any narrative frame through which one cares to view it can be found. Thankfully, our tradition has always shied away from any central authority who might like to impose their own story on all of us.
