Its the ignorance of Indian that highly revered Tibetan spiritual leaders like Karmapa receives many donations for the welfare of thousands of monks and monasteries.
Unlike Hindu temple priest who will openly pester you for donations from devotees and some of which are pilfered for their personal use but Buddhist priest will never solicit donation those who come to temple. Its up to devotees.
Its a fact Tirupati and Vaishno Devi temple receives millions each day various foreign currencies.

I'm not sure why this report bothers people. The Huffington Post reported, this year, that China recognizes the Karmapa's legitimacy. My immediate response to reading that was, "Why? Is he working for them, undercover?" And then I found this report. Finding a Tibetan leader who would work for them is just the kind of thing that the Chinese government would do.
