I love this show, it's personally one of my favorite musicals, and I do love Patti Lupone, but that being said, this is not the best performance I've seen. As 13Superkitsune said, she's incredibly aware of body movements and portrays the era in broadway of which this show was originally produced (1934) fairly accurately. And to davespy81 and FueledByIsabel, Patti has had her nights of less than perfect pronunciation. Besides, nobody can sing a Cole Porter song like Cole Porter, haha!
@FueledByIsabel Patti is just electric.. But yes, when I first started listening to her my thoughts were something akin to "Gosh, she is fantastic but what the Hell is she saying." I think in her latter years her pronunciation improved. Nevertheless, I am willing to put up with it because as I have said before, she might be the best damned overall performer I have ever seen. She loves every minute of being on the stage, and boy does it show. 4:11 - 4:15 pretty much sums it all up.
