Electric Motors tend to have more torque, and leave gas engines by the way side... although in these early days of transition from gas to electric... the car industry tend to utilize the smallest electric motors to weight ratio of car...robust electrical motors would outpace the fastest (Formula 1 racer)...... since fuel cars are only 20% efficient while electric motors are 90% efficient in comparison.

How much CO2 is emitted by mining processing and shipping all of this nickel and lithium all over the world? How much CO2 is emitted from power plants generating all of this electricity? Probably far more than switching to diesel or ethanol. I think you've been had.

Electric car and Hybrid cars sucks because you cant go traveling it only good for driving in the city or the store and recharging the battery for 8 hours the electric bill goes up high i rather stick with gas car or diesel gas car.

More and More Hybrid Electric Cars are being built. Ford has produced a Fleet of them. Toyota is releasing their Plug-in Hybrid Electric come 2012. Tesla Model S will also be due Summer 2012. Nissan has the LeaF.

The mining of the rare metals for the batteries as well as the disposal of said batteries do more damage too the environment than junking your late 80's ford tempo. Nikola Tesla threw a few circuits into an old model A and was getting 90MPH out of the damn thing with his wireless technology back before my grandma was born! Prior to 1920...Hybrids are nothing more than an over hyped turd!

the funny thing about the hybrid is that it actually does more harm than good. for one, people who drive hybrids get so cocky that their cars are more fuel efficient that they actually drive around more, and waste more fuel than a normal car. so yes, south park was right, hybrid cars produce so much "smug" they are destroying the environment.

the hybrid is stupid, what it does to increase mpg is only on stop and go on in the city driving thats why they say its 50 mpg. but drive it on the highway and in order to charge that batery the engine needs to do it which puts a extra load on the engine thus this is why the mpg is much lower. if you look at the website of a prius it may say 50/48 high to city repect. but this is only an estimate meaning not in a real world everyday enviornment. theoretic. look up other peoples real experiences
