Oat Mountain, Chatsworth, CA.

Cold War era LA88-L Nike and Hercules Missile Launch Base.

From where we parked it was over a half mile hike, straight uphill to get to the base. Sorry about the shaky video, I need a new camera and a steadier hand, apparently.

Land is now owned by Los Angeles County, currently used for Swat and Police tactical training.

  • @holiday12345ABC

    I think you're fucking wrong

  • Nice vid! My dad used to take me on these kinds of hikes when I was a kid too :) I want to try to go out to have a look around myself. Is anyone allowed up there or were you guys just lucky?

  • @poorlittlerichiegirl

the area is adjacent to a state park, you shouldn't have any trouble

  • I used to play basketball up there all the time...when the California Conservation Corp used to have a place up on that hill back in 1990.

  • @poorlittlerichiegirl Nope. Its free to the public . You can drive up there, pass by a couple of ranchs. THen you reach a parking lot. THen its a small hike to the Base and your there. REPLY if you want directions.

  • What happens if you get caught?

We went up here earlier today, and we want to film a movie sometime soon..

  • ...the old LA98 site, see what's still there

  • @tracedog27

The buses were brought up to the site for LAPD tactical training to simulate hostage situations, etc. As far as I know, LA county owns the land right now.

We had fun looking around up there, might try one more trip. We also want to check out

  • Great video of a very forgotten place. When I was a kid, you couldn't get near that place. Sentries with dogs would quickly dispatch any notion of getting a close look.

I cannot believe that all the old electrical gear is just sitting there, unstripped. Whats with the bus? And the family of telephone poles?

Sad that the place is allowed to just degenerate, but it all makes for an interesting movie, like the viewer is there themselves.

    Thanks for showing
