Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It's almost everything anyone could want from an action series: excellent characters, excellent writing, phenomenal fight scenes, tear-inducing dramatic speeches, an epic plot, sex appeal for everyone, and it tells a distinct story and ends on a wonderful note, instead of hanging around for years past its expiry date like other series I could mention.
