Shootout / comparison between Mohog 1176 (Hardware) vs WAVES CLA-76 vs IK-Multimedia Black-76 vs URS Strip Pro
Levels are NOT the same but similar, watch the peak-meters! Some tracks appear to be louder but the peak-meter shows the opposite.
My conclusion:
For me the hardware Mohog 1176 clone is still the best sounding device of all. It's punchy, clear and wide. It keeps the levels or dynamics steady in a pleasant way!
The URS Strip Pro is awesome. I used a tad bit of sidechaining for the low frequencies in order to give the kick more punch, with excellent result!
WAVES and IK ...??? Why did you guys omit some advanced features like sidechain filters on the detector? It's so stupid to live with such disadvantages in the 21st century-digital age where everything is possible!
The IK Black-76 is ok but lacks punch and clarity.
The WAVES CLA-76 is a joke, just my opinion!
It sounds like the mohog is compressing more, plus it sounds louder. all this test proves is that these are just different implementations of a particular compressor. i do not know... i personally believe that anyone could achieve the sound of every other compressor in this test with an eq after the compressor.

Great video man! I like the IK too. I was suprised how muffled sounding the cla-76 was. I would like to have seen the Softube FET comp in the running, that used to be my favorite but now i think im like the IK model. I might have to upgrade my T-Racks after all. lol

IK black 76 is is unquestionably the closest to the HW counterpart. Really similar but HW has more "air", hi freq content, so it gives a more alive sound.
However IK has nailed it. Kudos to IK.

The Black 76 sounds closest to the Mohog 1176, the rest sounded darker!
