"The Ninties will be the decade of cheap superportable information laden appliances." Famous last words. I was there, and I don't remember the 90's that way. What may have been superportable was certainly not cheap and what was cheap was not necessarily information laden either. Okay so I am a bit cynical (I really wanted a videophone and aerogel) Richard Hart and his CNet central program Next Step was the SciFi Channel's answer to Discovery Channel's Beyond 2000. Each week Richard would show us some new tech innovation that would revolutionize our lives in some profound way. Portable computing was this shows feature and while the stuff they mentioned arrived more in the 2000's than in the 90's. Still it was fun to see shows like this after all whether it's 5, 10 or 20 years into the future when these innovations arrive, it's still the future it's happening in.
I miss shows like this. They don't make them like this anymore. Stupid reality shows.
