Out in select theaters September 27th.
In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor (James McAvoy) on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery - and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive.

Yes I lived in Iraq for half a year. I currently live in Japan. You on the other hand probably have never traveled to a third world country from how you have asked your question. I stand by what I say and do not apologize for it. Until you have seen the torture chambers in Iraq and have seen how men treat women in that country you know nothing in my opinion and just sound like another bleeding heart. Also you think a person who owns an expensive car is a good person? How ignorant. Dubai is Broke
Actually it does. Idi Amin titled himself as "The Last King of Scotland", the Ugandans saw the Scottish as brothers in arms in their fight and hatred for and against the British.
Have you researched history on the middle east or Africa.....? Well if you did you would come to find that Africa had the largest Genocide ever recorded... more than the holocaust actually and these are Africans killing Africans over oil, religion, diamonds, gold, and power. It has always been this way in that part of the world. I said nothing about black people in my conversation and most of the people on youtube are to dumb to notice this is not about race I'm referring to a continent.
Yes, I've studied Africa's history, & moreover, I've lived there. Which is what I asked you - have you ever been there? If you had, you'd find it difficult to state that they "live like savages" and live a "dog-eat-dog" lifestyle. You'd have seen that the vast majority of Africans are ordinary people living ordinary lives & far from living "dog-eat-dog", community, kinship, courtesy, & kindness to strangers is a way of life for many. The tragedy is, people suffer for the actions of despots.
I think this was a stunning film, I actually liked Amin in the begging and than later began to see his true colours, which I think can only be credidted to Forest Whitaker. Brilliant
