  • were sea cats any good ?

  • @blahblah48856

Well they shot a few Argentinian Skyhawks and Mirages out of the Sky during the Falklands war so they must have been ok :-)

  • what are the missiles fire at 3:52

  • @CumbyOnThePiss . They are Seacat missiles which could be fired in automatic mode using radar contacts etc or manually using a joystick type arrangement.

NZ and Australia have/had a Lear jet which towed a drone a kilometre behind it which the missiles were fired at. Aimers were told not to hit the target due to the cost etc (full of electronics to track missile/detonation etc)

  • @stockcar269s There were some seacat aimers who were banned in some cases as they blew the drone out of the sky on a regular basis, these guys also won international aimers contests for their skill. The seacat missile has been long gone as they are obsolete. Wikipedia has a good article about the seacat
