House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD (just outside of Washington DC) is a dealer for James Goodall acoustic guitars. Here we have Mark Sylvester, one of our guitar teachers, demonstrating the Goodall Concert Jumbo model. Smaller and more comfortable than a dreadnought while still retaining a clear, rich tone, the Concert Jumbo features an Adirondack Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back & sides, Ebony fingerboard & bridge, Boxwood bridge pins, Curly Koa binding, Abalone rosette and Waverly tuners.

List Price on this model is $4,899 and includes an Ameritage hardshell case. For availability and price, please contact HMT directly at hmtmail@hmtrad.com or 301-270-9090, or visit our website at www.hmtrad.com.

Goodall Guitars are handmade by James Goodall and his small staff of craftspeople in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Every Goodall guitar features superb craftsmanship, an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, and robust, three dimensional sound character.

To find out more about Mark Sylvester, visit www.marksylvester.net. Inquiries on lessons with Mark (he teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass) can be made to House of Musical Traditions.

On this video Mark is playing two original selections from his CD "Music For Solo Guitar." The first is called "American Gypsy Pt 2;" the second is "I'll Not Be Weary."

Video produced by Glenn Tucker with audio engineered by HMT's in-house engineer and pro audio repairman Trevor Higgins.

  • Several years ago I owned an early Goodall Sitka/Rosewood CJ (with the "wing" bridge). I would still have it today except that I could not find a room large enough for both me AND the guitar. Its like playing on auto-pilot... or riding an unbroken horse. Too bad. Because to me, physically, the acoustic guitar exists in it's most perfect form as a Goodall Concert Jumbo.

  • You know what was the happiest day of my life? When I got a Goodall.

  • @tawava I have a Goodall CJ (rosewood/englemann spruce). They're phenomenally harmonic, lots of rich overtones. Not so great for stuff where you need piercing, simple tones, but I don't care :)

  • Aww, I can't find a dealer in Denmark... Is there anyone who could tell me an online shop who sell this series of guitars?

  • I was like "Omg this is amazing... But is it the guitar or the playing?!" Such an amazing sound

  • han such harmonics, it's really a soft sweet tone

  • love this sound..
