  • Ely just celebrated his 4th birthday and is now eating some table foods he even ate a few bites of his birthday cake. He is still very small for his age but his other skills have shown great development and improvement. He is currently in school and the intent is to main stream him in regular classes at kindergarten. To all parents with Autistic children there is hope be your child's advocate and most of all do not take no from anyone for an answer fight for your child.

  • To anyone that has viewed my sons video. I appreciate your positive words of encouragement. The good news is since this time he is now 2 1/2 years old and self feeding he still has the aversion to textures but has come along way he has a huge vocabulary he has been reevaluated and is now mild on the spectrum. Thank you god for this.

  • @mommy2ely He sure doesn't look small for his age in the video taken at 18 months.

  • He didn't want to eat. Why are you doing this? There's nothing wrong with this kid. You're doing nothing but frustrating your child.

And, Autism or not, I'd gag on that food too.

  • Stop forcing that poor child!I dont see autism here i see a mother who doesnt know when to stop.ur clearly trying to force him over n over to talk in that loud voice n a non helpful or encouraging way,n ur clearly forcing him to eat.its not behavioral.he cant help gagging.there was a mother thrown in prison for force feeding the child the same way.the child died of severe pneumonia due to food in the lungs.not saying it would go to that extreme here but hes clearly coughing when ur forcing him.

  • I'm pleased to hear Ely's doing well. God bless & best wishes to you all.

  • ohh he likes the turkey and rice! handsome little man he is god love him! he reminds me soooo soo much of my son it gets frustrating with the no speech thing but over time the grunts and hand movements are just as strong as words. autistic children are smart just in a special way! <3

  • BTW texture and color may be an issue so if u r gonna change make sure the two differnt foods are similar as possble.

  • My son is similar. he likes playing with strap clips, he's very strict with what he eats and he gags a lot - often he is 'pretent gagging' and overeacting.

ONe tip for changing his food - with my son he will like dish (A), but we want him to start eating dish (B) .... we change it very slowly ... 10% at a time. it will go like this: 100% (A), then 90% (A) + 10% (B) then next day; then 80% (A) + 20 % (B) ... sometimes its one step forwards two step back , but eventually he changes.

  • @mommy2ely what is wrong with you stupid bitch you don't gag a baby and i have an 18 month old with autism your just a child abuser or you just don't care for your child dum dum bitch.

  • I cant believe you are telling him "no no" when he gags... you do understand he cant help it, @@
