While I appreciate the strength she brings to her playing, her performance in the Concerto sounded like she was playing the Tchaikovsky First. Granted she is entitled to her own vision of the work, but I prefer my Chopin more compassionate.

Even with my concerns over her stylistic approach to the Chopin, she is, for me, a far more engaging player than a Wang or Lang. Yet, I find something missing...vulnerability perhaps?

TERRIBLE beginning to Chopin's 4th Ballade....I am very torn with her as a pianist. Sometimes I love what she does, and other times I can't stand it..lol. She is obviously very talented, but not my cup of tea for Chopin.

I agree, she often has a harsh tone, but it's clear she has very, very deep understanding and passion. I would take her performance any day over someone who merely has perfect touch and technique but no understanding.
