The youngerish people in here need to realize something... That this is the first time that anything that looked even remotely like this ever happened on film. Ever. Every actor from every decade that followed was/is just trying to live up to the standard that Marlon Brando set with this film. In short, Marlon was the first... and he is still the best.

@TheHipster15 There are many themes in this film..... Watch it. Stanley is basically represents the middle class, hands on, macho, tireless worker and hates a southern rich women who flaunt there apparent wealth (which ironically Blanche doesn't have) and the way in which she manipulates men. Just watch you'll see

could someone please explain the meaning of this movie to me? i have no access to reading the play, but i do know blanche is crazy. and stanley is the antagonist. but what is the whole theme? thank you!

Blanche is the heroine and Stanley's the villain. Of course, Williams' writing is brilliant enough that it feels hollow to reduce them to those words.
-
so in reality who is the bad guy in this movie? is it blanche because of her past and trying to foool everybody? or is it stanleys and his bad temper and abusive brute behavior?
-
This scared me! Not that much though.
