The original Russian text is the infamous poem of Anna Akhmatova. English translation, orchestration and performance are, as usually, by the author. However, this time the author is also the composer of the music. The text of the original Russian poem and its English translation are below. The full text can be found in the author's book "Favorite Translations". The song itself is included in the author's CD- "The Poetry of Anna Akhmatova. The Music of Pauline Viardot"
For weeks didn't I drop a word,
Only sat on a stone at stormy sea's shore.
I enjoyed that crowns of wavs, white as a chalk,
Are, as my tears are, full of salt.
There were winters and springs,
But one spring still in my memory rings.
Nights were getting warmer, and snow got melted
I went out once to look at the moon.
Then a strange fellow nearby unexpectedly said,
Keeping up with my lonely, sad tune,
«Are not you the one, whom I've been looking for
Since my childhood many years ago,
Whom I always love like a sister or more?»
But I angrily answered the stranger: No!
And he told me also the four features of land,
Where we would meet each other again:
«Steeple sea shores, a round bay,
Tall lighthouse, mandatory wormwood.
As the life should end the way, it had been at first day.»
And I then agree with him that it, of course, should!
@BeautifulGirlByDana Thank you. I am having a kind of boycott in my local community. Why is so - impossible to understand, but , as the result, I can't present my stuff on local radio station, local festivals, local stores (books and CDs). And even the local public library, which manages to buy my books, does not want to officially recognize me, as local writer and/or singer. I am telling you all of this to explain why I am so grumpy, sometimes unreasonably so. Thanks again. Nushika9

@BeautifulGirlByDana I subscribed to your channel. Why not? I, however, still do not understand why you subscribed to mine. Neither you, not a lot of channels and people, which and who come with this subscription, have expressed by now opinions or even presence on my channel. What was you reason for this subscription, considering that your only comment was very strange also, is fully unclear.

What do you mean? It is one of my songs from CD, which is mentioned in description. It is completely mine, except of the fact that the lyrics if the translation, not the original poem of mine.
