Sir James Aldroyd gives Ernest a prescription that he doesn't think Ernest can fill: Ernest must earn his own living for one year using none of his current wealth. Ernest bets him 50,000 English pounds that he can.

The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss is a 1936 British romantic comedy film starring Cary Grant and Mary Brian.
Grant was married five times. Virginia Cherril (1934) divorced him on charges of domestic abuse), Barbara Hutton (1942) an extremely wealthy woman he divorced and refused palimony from. Betsy Drake (1949) introduced him to LSD, Yoga and Mysticism, divorced most likely because she was crazy. Dyan Cannon (1965) who bore him the daughter he adored. And finally Barbara Harris in 1981.

Another great movie where a rich man decides to what life is like for the poor is Sullivan's travels. Also a great comedy (with a dark side) it benefits greatly from being the best movie Veronica Lake ever made.
Too bad she went insane.

This was a really good movie. I am glad I found it and was able to watch it. Oh, that Cary Grant. He makes you feel good--all over; inside and out.
