Tower Bridge was raised at 11.00 am (GMT) to make the end of the First World War, two minutes silence is held at this time. This is the first time Tower Bridge has been used to this, it is the result of a campaign by ex serviceman Ernest Sangster, who operated the controls of the bridges bascules this day.
