Relatively, they've become much more complex. Nels Cline's guitar work is most certainly complex. You can't deny that. The man is a jazz guitarist at heart, and what's more complex than jazz?

Huge fan of Wilco but to suggest that their music is in any way technically complicated is just silly. :-) You are obviously not a musician.

This is definitely not "simpler" than old Wilco. The chords and song structures have gotten a lot more complicated in the past two albums. But it's a testament to Wilco's skill that they can make really complicated stuff sound simple.

Is it just me or is Wilco getting better? The songwriting has remained inspired and the music has been elevated to a new level and the new album seems like it's going to be a great follow up to sky blue sky. I like all their stuff, but I like this direction

i think the only difference in this and the old stuff is that this is simpler, but in a good way, its simple so it sounds good to untrained ears but when it is heard by trained ears its sounds good too
