@phenixboss There's nothing in chicken eggs that is critical to human survival. If this is how sentient beings are treated for frivolous pleasure (egg/meat eating) then a concerned society has every responsibility to find other ways to nourish themselves. Money (greed) cannot possibly justify cruelty. You may believe that these hens don't care how they are treated (or if they are killed) ---But you do so because it fits a "logic" that allows you to continue bad practices.It's not actually truth.

@veronique2 As they don't even know how they could live, i don't think it is cruelty, cruelty would be to cage a free bird. People have to eat, It is what it take to make money over it... plus people don't want to pay the full price, so there is no way they could have they could live the full life! We don't have money, we pay for what we can afford, this is what lowcost is ...

Look at what 'Animal Welfare' campaigning has achieved, just more torture but on a different level. Im sick of organisations pushing for slightly less torture. All it does is numb consumers by thinking that Animals are getting a better deal. The only way to stop Animal exploitation is to be vegan.

Whose lives are being enriched here? the Chickens, or the fat farmers who profit from rearing them into such a hideously cruel existence? I see these hens are still de-beaked; proving that these cages like the old ones induce mental derangement and a tendency to cannibalise others. If farmers kept dogs and cats this way there'd be a public outcry and crowds of people on the streets demanding that David Cameron end it.
Well they might only be chickens, but like us; they can and do suffer!.
