@joe12544 No, genies come from all places in the Middle East, but Iraq is known for the first ancient civilization, Mesopotamia.. They made *Jeannie's* character come from there...

Beautiful talented lady but the dance is SO STUPID. I doubt very much it is an Egyptian dance or anything related to the Middle East and do not believe it is even remotely close.

She is one of the most adorable hot babes of all time.
Thanks for sharing.
I couldn't stop smiling.
I, too, have dreamed of a Jeannie...
But the one I've got doesn't look like Jeannie but has the same shape as Jeannie's bottle!?! I LOVE her, still. :-}

See? Barbara even walked like an Egyptian before the Bangles did.

This pre-dates Steve Martin's equally camp "King Tut" number on SNL by 10 years. One wonders if Eden did this -- note the camera angle in the last few seconds -- as sort of a backhanded protest over not being able to show her navel on Jeannie.

In January 1966, in an interview about "I DREAM OF JEANNIE", Barbara admitted to an Associated Press reporter, "Baby Elephant (meaning herself) isn't a dancer. When I dance, it's strictly for comedy." She didn't have the confidence to attempt a "seductive" dance routine when she initially became "Jeannie". By late 1967, however, she was able to replicate one during her big production number as "Lalume" in a TV adaptation of "Kismet". That, in effect, led to this tongue-in-cheek number...
