lol In India there is range of colours from Pale White to Dark Brown depending on where you live in India... but in Sri Lanka... nearly everyone in average is Dark brown other than Film Actors & Actresses. Thats the difference my friend.

Well the tamil people i know are more similiar to Indians than Lankans. I mean they are all Hindu, and go for india in cricket. That makes them indian. Yes, it does.

PS By the way most Tamils do not know how to speak in Sinhalese. Infact when they scrapped the English medium out of the local schools there was still a tamil class in every school that enabled the tamil children to continue studying tamil For those who conversed in english and studied in english were forced to study Sinhalese. It is not a bad thing to learn more than one language and I appreciate the fact that I could speak English tamil and sinhalese.

Russell Peters is fantastic. But he is referring to the Tamil community in Canada. Most Tamils do not consider themselves Sri Lankan. Unless ofcourse you were to ask them where they came from. Reluctantly they would say Sri Lanka. He is referring to a Tamil speaking guy at the counter. Most Sri Lankans do not speak like that. Just my opinion..

@lion100011 ... I agree lol ... I've never understood this weird belief that Lankans are "darker" than Indians. It's absurd. The darkest of the Lankans are the Tamils who are originally from southern India ... so where on earth does this strange belief come from? I've heard it twice now and I'm like ... darker? WTF? I've just spent 17 days in Sri Lanka and if anything, I can't tell a Lankan from an Indian if my life depended on it.

people from dravidian origins are really dark... the majority of sri lankans happen to be from Indo- Aryan origin or a mix of the two. So only a few people in sri lanka are that dark. Russel read up before you go on stage and make comments on a nation!!!
