@randomusernamemygod True. Unfortunately (since I'm a Loyal Servant of the Emperor of Man), I don't give the Imperium good odds in a War against the GE. Two reasons;

1) They are busy enough as it is, Chaos & Co.

2) Strategic Mobility and Communication. The GE has fast, RELIABLE FTL drives and comms. They'll win against the Imperium, because they can pick and choose their battles.

And then they'd be brutally raped by Daemons, Nids, Necrons, Dark Eldar and the rest, but that's another story.

Both the Imperium of Man and the Galactic Empire are ruthless, oppressive regimes known to commit genocide, crush freedom and champion military-prowess. Neither ranks higher on a scale of living conditions, I reckon. I will give 'this' to the Empire however: its citizens are not obligated to offer supplication to its leader as the citizens of the IOM must (somewhat akin to medieval Europe). In that sense, there is just a LITTLE bit more freedom yonder there in the GE.

The Galactic Empire also acted like a threat that hangs over all existence, unlike the IOM, which has a dozen of those hanging over its head at all time. It may sound strange to say this, but the IOM is more like the Rebel Alliance. Except totalitarian and encompassing a galaxy. :P

I deem myself to be a follower of the Imperium of Man, but I must admit that it is somewhat handicapped against the Galactic Empire for several reasons. 1)Hyperdrive is by far faster than warp drive, and 2)the Galactic Empire's industrial capacity and logistical mobility surpasses that of the Imperium by several orders of magnitude, unfortunately. That said, the Imperium is more than capable of fucking up the Empire, should it ever invade.

Although battleships are around 8 km long, they are outclassed by the super star destroyers which are 19 km long. That doesn't go to say that the Imperium of Man could not build ships of that size (they have, as a matter of course), but even that example can not compare with the sheer size and immensity of the Death Stars which are by far larger than any thing that the Imperium could build.

@randomusernamemygod Why bother with Astartes? Throw in a squad or two to assassinate that so-called "emperor" and his right hand, "lord" Vader. Leave the rest for the Guard - grinding is what they do best, and besides, they deserve some R&R after fighting nightmarish horrors for ten thousand years.

A decade or two purging a backwater galaxy from pansies ought to do it.

Seriously, we could just let loose one regiment of Catachans and sit back - ten Gelt on the Moffs shitting themselves in fear.
