Bel raggio lusinghier always better when sung by mezzo sopranos who have excellent coloratura technique; Berganza has everything right here. She has a strong, beautiful voice, magnificent middle register and coloratura. This is a straightforward rendition, no nonsense, no embellishments, but it's absolutely gorgeous. Rossini would have been proud. Berganza, like the Garcia sisters who sang for Rossini's operas, is from Spain!

I don't care a fig about the opinions of the dilettante, illuminati, sidewalk superintendents or anyone else.. IMO Berganza does the "best" Bel Raggio and Selva Opaca on record. In 40 years I've never found better. Thanx for posting
