Very nifty vid for this funky little tune off of Carrie's self-titled solo album. Alongside Sam Harris and Kim O'Leary, she was one of a handful of white artists whom Motown tried to market during the late 80's...but Carrie's music, produced by the late, great Willie Hutch, was a bit more in the funky realm than the others'. Hutch also wrote this song. Prior to signing with Hitsville, Carrie had enjoyed some success in her native Iowa with a few independent releases, as well as some childhood appearances with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show" in the early 70's!

  • Y E S!

    i knew it!

the sad thing is after all of the plays on Soul Train; this video; the awesome 12'' version and dub, Motown still didn't promote her effectively and she went back to obscurity.

thank you so much again, Justin.

  • You're welcome, Nick! I didn't realize that it was played a lot on ST! She ended up moving to Nashville and recording Christian music. I'm sure the Motown experience wasn't the most positive, based on most things I've heard from other artists who were affiliated in the late 80's:-(

  • Oh Yeah !! this white girl got soul, I wonder why this was not a bigger hit too!! I am feeling this jam, her vocals are tight, music is good too. She had a good track here, what did they not push further, very similar to Paula Abdul stuff. Nice track

  • this should've been a big hit for her
