Did this piece in the early 90's I think, at the annual homecoming at the church in Jolo, West Virginia.

I think it's beautiful, in its own right. It shouldn't be altered or scorned as long as people are doing of their own accord. They are moved by the Holy Spirit - that should be enough. It would be the delight of my life to visit one of these churches. I grew up in a nondenominational Arkansas church that shares many of the same beliefs these churches due, minus only the serpent handling. I don't think it's evil at all.

I cant believe that snake owners that get their pets legally in the pet trade are shunned, when you have whole towns grabbing, dancing, and pissing off POISONOUS snakes taken from the local environment.

Really... Is there a reason why harmless unpoisonous snakes like ball pythons and corn snakes cant be used in such practices?

Now.... I'm an old school baptist. As basic of a christian as you can get. And... I really haven't read or heard of anywhere in the bible where God asks us to prove our faith by holding and dancing around with serpents. I understand that there are different ways to worship, but this is abit extreme.... I've followed lot of different christian religions and understand them, but this type of religion and worship really seems to go in the wrong direction. Not judging... but it makes you wonder.

I dont post comments, but this ones too personal. My family is in this video. I have no idea who posted it. Serpent handling isnt an occult, no one forces scary things on anybody. If you feel the anointing of God & believe you have the faith, then you follow Gods will. Moses staff turned into a snake (Exodus 7). Did he not have to take it up"?

To those arguing taking up serpents is tempting God read:
James 1:13 "God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

The Hopi are scoffed at for their Snake Dance. Lakota Siouxs population was literally eradicated when the wasicuta became afraid of their Ghost Dance, which ultimately ignited the keg of fear which erupted into the horrific battle of Wounded Knee. Why? The oppressed were looking for hope. Was HOPE not the platform Obama ran on?

I feel honored being baptized by Bro. Bob. Unfortunately, most of the people have passed but the love & compassion I felt there's etched in my heart forever.
