This exercise is designed to help students practice active listening skills and talk about how challenging communication circumstances can be overcome. Have students sit in a circle. Have the first student talk to the person seated to their right about a time they had difficulty communicating with someone and what they think they can do to become a better communicator. The listener should then paraphrase what the talker shared. The listener then becomes the talker and addresses the person seated to his/her right. Proceed with this pattern until all students have been in the talker role and the listener role.
