A video reminder of Sondra - Wife and Mother. We love you and miss you. Anthony (Lauren, Jonathan, and Matthew)

-------------------------------------

Sondra was unexpectently diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer in February 2007.
After a brief but courageous fight, she passed away in May 2007... Mother's Day Weekend.
Today we believe this Christian woman is finally Home in Heaven... in a place where she no longer suffers.

One of Sondra's final wishes was to use this song some way at her funeral. This song was important to her because she was concerned about the Legacy she would be leaving behind to her children. She wondered... "Did I do enough??".

Yes, Sondra, you did.

Song: "Legacy"
Artist: Nichole Nordeman

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me.
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest.
You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best
At such'n'such ... it wouldn't matter much.

I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights.
We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'.
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides.
The temporary trappings of this world...

I want to leave a legacy.
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering.
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically.
And leave that kind of legacy.

I don't have to look too far or too long awhile
To make a lengthly list of all that I enjoy.
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy.

I want to leave a legacy.
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering.
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically.
And leave that kind of legacy.

Not well traveled, not well read, not well-to-do or well bred.
Just want to hear instead, "Well Done" good and faithful one...

I want to leave a legacy.
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering.
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically.
And leave that kind of legacy.

  • Anthony

I am actually in Nicole's original Legacy video. She went to my church in Dallas. I know her personally and she would be proud that you used her song as a tribute to your wife. She has children and knows God's love of a child and their mother.

In the video my wife now was the nurse Kathy and I was the single dad John. Nicloe asked us to be in it because she believes we ALL leave a legacy no matter how famous we are. Your tribute is AWESOME! God Bless!

  • Wow... Thanks for sharing that information with me. Before Sondra passed away we talked briefly about the remembrance service. She had always been a fan of Nicole's, so she thought of this song immediately. She said she didn't care about the rest of the service -- that would be left up to us and she said she trusted us.

So we played Legacy with pictures. This version is different (because we had more time to put it together)... but it's the same idea.

    Thanks for sharing. God Bless.

  • So amazing..God bless you all.

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • Anthony, This video is BEAUTIFUL! You all have done a GREAT job doing the video.

    Valerie~

  • Thanks Valerie. It was good to hear from you. I have really wanted to pull this off for a long time. I'm glad I waited. We all enjoy it.
