Rabbi Messer explains it perfectly: The Bible is like a diamond, you hold it up and can see many sides, just like the Word. It can mean literal, spiritual and even more spiritual. YHWY speaks to us through HIS word and the more we seek the more will be revealed.
@tonyacole I appreciate that individuals may get different things from the text, but it is best to be such meaning FROM THE TEXT, not simply add characters, such as a "devil", because you think the text must be messianic. That's what I'm dealing with: what comes from the simple meaning of the text. When it comes to deeper meanings, I leave that to the people who have held the written and unwritten tradition since Moses gave the law: traditional Jews.
I would have to disagree. You could say that Satan has come between man and woman since then and it has increased over the generations. The man is the covering for the woman, the woman has fought this, wants her way, but yet continues to desire the very man she destroys. The Woman- Yehsua- We love him but yet fight the very things he came to do for us, he is our covering. The bible is literal and spirtual
@tonyacole i guess anyone can say anything about what Genesis 3 means "spiritually". Why not let the snake be George Bush and let Adam and Eve represent the American people? Better yet, why not let the snake be Obama? You see, once you get into this spiritual meaning, especially when you are cut off from the original root of Torah understanding, i.e., the Jewish people, then you can make anything up and call it spiritual meaning.
Jesus said I am. Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, what further need do we have of witnesses? You heard the blasphemy! What do you think? Mark 14
