@sakadisman Oh by the way asswipe there were SLAVE states in the Union and non slave states in the Confederacy oh and thousands of black troops served in the confederate army you dumbass
Wow. If these are the kinds of lies you need to tell yourself to make it through life go right ahead. If you want to know just how important slavery was to Southern society look at their reaction to its abolition - Klu Klux Klan terror campaigns, Jim Crow and segregation. You don't have to be a slave owner to be a full and enthusiastic member of a slave owning society. But you do have to be a COWARD to not man up and face the truth about your history.
How can south claim taxation without representation when the federal government exists? Slavery was the main, constant issue in the US from the beginning. The idea that slavery didn't play a role is laughable as the slaves produced the cotton. In fact, most of the economics talk is revisionist history that began to appear during the second KKK. Maybe the confederate flag doesn't represent racism, only nostalgia for slave loving, anti-America southerns from the 1860s. Any thoughts?
Most of the Southern states had seceded before Abraham Lincoln's inauguration. The Confederate Constitution was created in February 1861. Lincoln was inaugurated in March 1861. The war was not about a tax. The South was afraid that Lincoln would free the slaves and the South would not have all that free labor to produce its cotton. Get your history straight. People like Robert E. Lee had sworn an oath to The United States of America, and then they turned traitors. Their oath was worthless.
both sides f..ed up big time and have their own part to play in the civil war. The war is over and no finger pointing will ever change the outcome. Why don't we forget about the north south BS and honor the people who were killed and wounded by learning from the past and do our best to make sure we never have a second civil war.
@JPW1239 Good lord, "dumb mother-fucker" doesn't even describe...
The secessionist Confederacy attacked the United States Fort Sumter, SC first. The lack of a "decoration" of war (I believe the word you're looking for is "declaration") implies there were no engagements prior to the Battle of Bull Run. You're just fucking dumb, dude.
@KayBeeEee1983 He doesn't understand what the word "sovereignty" actually means. He's never studied the law in any way. "Sovereignty" is just a magic word to him.
