Derek Trucks' guitar solo from their performance at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI on Aug. 24, 2007. Out of the countless hours of Derek Trucks' playing I've heard, this is the mountaintop. His solo at this performance is the most memorable, emotional, gut-wrenching, tear-jerking instrumental you will ever hear. It drips with emotion and resonance, but also joy and jubilation. On a technical level, his control of the feedback and harmonics in this performance are at a level that even the greatest guitarists in history have never been able to fully master. He flows from slide to fretted playing so seamlessly, it sounds like his fingertips are made of glass. This is a performance you just shut your eyes for and enjoy the ride.
