How to make the Simple Lacy Shell Stitch. This one is lacy and airy.

If you already know how to make the chain, the single crochet, double crochet and slip stitch, you should be able to make this stitch pattern.

Chain a multiple of 6 plus 3 chains. Sc across chain.
First row of shells: Ch 3, turn. Skip 3 sc, make a shell of (3 dc, ch2, 3dc) in the next stitch. *skip 5 sc, make a shell in the next sc. repeat from * across row. End with a dc in the last sc.

Second shell row: Chain 3, turn. Shell in the chain space of the first shell,* skip space between shells, shell in ch-sp of next shell. Repeat from * across row. Dc in the top of the turning chain.

Repeat second shell row to desired length.

  • i still dont get how to finish it off as a blanket?

  • @kitkatNEF You will have one end that is scalloped. but you can repeat the stitch on the bottom edge as well.

  • Oh wow Bethintx your a great teacher. I think I can do this stitch as well. The way you do the shell stitch is the best one yet. I've been wanting to learn this stitch for a while. I tried following a book but had no success. Your way is soooo much easier. I am going to play with this also. Thank you, thank you. Do you have a website? Have a great day.

  • @Kimzeb0410 My website link is on my channel page.

  • how many stitches to make a single bed blanket, how many wools would I NEED

  • @red123828 You would have to find a similar pattern and look at that. I'm just showing how to do the stitch here. I have no idea how much you would need for a blanket.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was very easy to follow with the video. I'm still practicing it, but will be making an awesome looking blanket thanks to you !! I find it quite simple to make, but a very nice looking result, especially for a beginner! I've only ever done boring single and double crochets rows and now I can do this one! I'll be looking for more of YOUR video tutorials, because you made it so easy for me to learn.

  • very nice and easy ..i used it to trim some dishcloths

  • Thanks, you went at a really good pace. I'll definitely try this out.

  • This is a beauteous stitch! Thank you for making the video! MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
