  • @Beatleschick1 There's a scene before in which the body of her son is carried in some cart or something. You can see that he's dead. When Cleopatra looks at Octavian's hand she sees her son's ring on his finger. She then knows that he hasn't escaped and he's dead. That's why she swears to Octavian on the life of her son, knowing that it can't be because he's dead so she'll be able to break that word and kill herself.

  • Whenever I watch this, I cry.

I cry for Cleopatra, a strong woman who was willing to do anything for the ones she loved, and her country

I cry for the the Eiras and Charmian, who stayed so loyal to the end, such bravery from such historically insignificant creatures

I cry for Egypt, such an ancient, rich, magnificent, powerful nation, finally brought to an end by the new and destructive Romans: the thought alone infuriates me.

Such a beautiful, yet tragic ending.

  • Why would the Octavian care about Cleopatra's life so much? And it seems in the movie that she loves Anthony more than Caesar!

  • why would she want to die.

  • Such a sad yet uplifting scene. She's going out on her own terms and in her ow way,not degraded or humiliated. So touching that Charmian and Iris wanted to die with her not be left behind.

  • I still don't understand why he left her alone knowing she knew that he killed her son.

  • Thanks a lot:)

  • @travkeyes Dude, read my post. I am talking about the MOVIE, not history. I was explaining to someone that particular scene. I never said this is what happened in real life. I just wrote the same thing before.

  • Cleopatra is coming soon to blu ray! I can't wait to experience it again with the best quality available. This new edition will contain more missing footage. Coming out on 30 Jan.

  • @travkeyes If you read my original comment, it was a reply to someone who asked why she had broken her word. I'm talking about the movie, not real life.

  • @frodo322 nonono do some research her son died at age 17. by octis orders cleo was long dead
