  • Red maples are not as sweet as sugar maples but you can make good maple syrup from them. It will take longer and cost more to do as you have to boil more water off to get the finished product.

  • is red maple a good tree to tap for maple syrup? how does it compare in sweetness to the sugar maple? we have tons of reds here in nj, but no sugars that i can find
