@subversesounds The driver did exactly as trained.

Good to see only one engine on scene for a trash fire. If that were to happen here there'll be three engines and thirty chiefs' vehicles... absolutely no need for more than one engine for something like this with no exposures. Maybe an extra engine for ember control depending on the weather.

Should've let the fire burn itself out. Less clean up.

Any other firefighters here see this fire and then automatically look for the nearest hydrant?
-
not to be rude, but really, "do we even have a fire hydrant" what type of question is that.

I worked for Roselle disposal. Driver did the right thing. Ejected the load in the middle of the street away from houses and power lines and did not let the quarter million dollar truck burn up. had the truck caught fire the fire would have been much harder to put out inside the body. sometimes people hide things in the trash that you just dont catch every time. you pick up thousands of cans a day it is hard to know exactly what is in there.
They got it all cleaned up. Fire dept has been going through the debris to determine the cause. They found all bad stuff that should never have been thrown out (or picked up) - kerosene can, car batteries, tailgate grill...
