Running my 40LA with a Davis Diesel head. Prop is Graupner 12x6, fuel is Davis bushed engine formula with a little extra ether. The engine only fires with the electric starter, with compression screw all the way in. Then one lowers the compression.
@tiggermatty I got more humpfh form bigger props, but the liner was starting to peel when I made the conversion.
Be sure to heat up the liner well before you put the head in place, mine as a really tight fit, probably to accomodate liner expansion when at operating temperature.
You can get fuel from Davis directly if you're in the US. Ether is the problem in many countries, but in Portugal I can ask a liter over the counter, no questions asked.

Are you getting more power with diesel head? I am planning the same thing but dont know where to get the fuel.
