This is the best adaptation of the book to film. It is theatrical but not vulgar. The script is perfect and the direction outstanding. The acting is so natural and true to the characterizations in the book that it is miraculous. Also, the background music actually moves the story and supplies a depth of feeling that is rarely found in feature films. Bravo!

@ThiiNatawii I couldn't agree more. I like Mia's Jane bc life made her tough... and as she says, obscure. So it's harder for her to break down in front of people but it's nice that Mia's Jane breaks down at the end but not from the beginning

lol this sucks.. the 2011 one is so much more intense and beautiful

I just watched the 2011 movie... and then I saw this clip. Wow. Compared to this series, the new movie was so stale.

To the last few posters who have said this is too dramatic and "bordering to hysterical", please read the passage in the book. This is NOT a scene of restraint and stoicism. Jane sobs convulsively and is shaken from head to foot with acute distress. " Vehemence of emotion" claims mastery of her. All of this we see in Ruth's performance. A truly masterful portrayal.
