When recently tested with the national 2nd grade word list, she missed about 10 out of several hundred words! Early Literacy ROCKS! Everyday she picks up books and independently discovers the world within, it's just been too cool to watch her love for books unfold.

  • Watch the video again, she says "sad." She didn't answer when I asked her about hungry, she was too engrossed in the story. She, like all toddlers, definitely know what hungry feels like! Little Reader gives a picture and video to demonstrate every single word taught. There are others, like "the" for example, that they learn through context. If you go to the link posted in the description above, go to the yelllow "BrillBaby " tab to download the free reading/math e-books.

  • It's been one of the best things I ever did for my kids. My kids have a greater understanding of the world at an earlier age, they entertain themselves and LOVE reading books. They've amassed an incredible amount of background/contextual knowledge from reading. Last week my 2 year old pointed out the window while parked near a construction site and said said "Look, an excavator!" Apparently, she learned it from her brother's construction puzzle that has words on it.

  • hmm interesting. now i have a question. do you think that teaching your child to read is beneficial since children at that age don't have the advanced comprehension skills. they read the words but don't really understand what they read. Like at 1:41 you asked "is he hungry" and she didn't answer. then you asked is he happy or sad. she can't comprehend hungry.
