This is one of those "truly classic" Sesame Street cartoons that go way back to the beginning (1969). I always thought this one was very funny. My older brother used to laugh so hard at the "What a drag!" part. lol (more)

  • @jeopardy60611 I'm a lot like you in that respect!

  • I saw this clip when I was 3 years old. When he said "A is for ant again," I thought he was saying "Aff-a-gell," and while riding my bike on a sidewalk a few years later, the sound of the wheels going over the cracks reminded me of the sound of the ant running, and I called the area where I was riding the "aff-a-gell." When I was a kid, I used to make up words for things, and only recently did I figure out where those words came from.

  • @patrickballoonman Not only that, but 'A' is for 'Arbogast' as well!

  • "What a DRAG" ! Wow, that still makes me laugh!

  • Groovy! (I've been looking for this)

  • If that brown kid truly has "a bus to catch", why is he just sitting there so lazily?

  • I just watched this again, and noticed the similarity of the ending music as well; same animator? Also the letter "D" cartoon of this series previously mentioned is shown to have first aired pre-season 1 on "Test Episode 1", according to "Muppet Wiki"...

  • Also one for the letter "D" which ended w/ my personal favorite moral: "If you dig a dinosaur, drop your duck for a dime."

  • Bob Arbogast sure makes a good story teller, doesn't he?

  • This was created in the mold of 'Joe and the Junebug' (or 'Joe' was created in the mold of this!) The two kids here are the same as in the 'Junebug' sketch, and likewise this story has a moral at the end. Last but not least, the music that accompanies the kid saying 'Toe doesn't begin with 'A'' is the same as that used in some of the 'botched rocket countdown' cartoons!
