The "One Laptop per Child" project established by a US non-profit organisation was set up to make laptops and Internet access available to children in the developing world.
Mass production began one year ago of the XO-1 Laptop, and 700,000 of them are now in use. In Ethiopia, 5000 computers have been bought with donations, and we visited Addis Abeba and a nearby village to see how they are changing the lives of teachers and students.

To use this, you need to know English and how to type. It's not hard to teach and learn if each school has at least one teacher with these skills.
I know the 2 most critically important skills I was taught were English and typing as well as the ability to objectively analyze the many knowledge available in today's world as to make better informed decisions.

"Through the computer, the heralds say, we will make education better, religion better, politics better, our minds better — best of all, ourselves better. This is, of course, nonsense, and only the young or the ignorant or the foolish could believe it.
