Mag-lev motor run with a bedini SSG circuit. Description of armature and lev system and run coil. Typically a SSG with a Run battery as well as a charging battery. Problems and advantages disgussed. It's an unfinished motor I could use some suggestions as to magnetic sheilding due to cogging effect of the very powerful Neo mags suspending the armature.

  • Any magnetic shielding will produce eddy currents and a slowing down due to lenz law...

The only way is distance... you know... the technik doesn´t matter it´s the size that rulz :-]

    Cheers....

  • @K0W0O0N0 I need to add magnetic shielding or build a new rotor with enough distance between the mags (similar to skycollection's) to reduce the magnetic cogging. THANKS for your comment.

  • @K0W0O0N0 THANKYOU for your comments. One fix is to have a longer axle (more distance from the drive magnets} and the suspension mags. I DO however really like the compactness of this current design. I am working on a very cool vertical version as well.. Happy motoring Scott :O)

  • Sure which you had the RPM's on this little guy. Had you raised the coil right next to the armature, I bet you would get at least a notable 150% increase in speed, possibly to the point it will no longer chatter.

Try it and stand back away from it, allowing your body to be facing the length of the axle. This way if parts go flying, they will not hit you directly.

I can help you with magnetic shielding, but I will have to email it to you ASAP, as the space here is to limited.

  • @YouTooArchives Thanks for your comments. The relationship to the armature and coil is critical as you guessed. The field effect around the coil has a unique shape and putting the coil further from the run magnet on the armature works better than right next to it. There is definately a sweet spot! Thanks for watching..... Scott

  • Figure out how Mu Metal or a cylinder of iron can make it work. The problem is that you need a certain shielding thickness to distort/ 'confine' the magnetic field enough thus the shield may end up as this giant disc attached to your device. Whither its mounted on the base or rotor I don't know... a lot of experimentation would be required. Excellent design by the way; i'll have to add this to my to-do list. Very inspiring.

  • @64298 YES I'll send you my email address.. :O) Scott

  • @64298 Hi,

Last night I found a way of making a similar looking setup as to what you have by using only two very powerfull magnets and one ring power diametric magnet . Thats 3 magnets. total If interested contact me with your regular E mail address and I will send you photos. A photo is worth a thousand words.. I Need some comparison input before posting a video showing this.

  • @64298 Mu metal comes to mind for shielding but it does not work.

  • @64298 Commercial magnetic shielding is available but it is ineffective for the kind of powerful neodymium magnets we are using. Been there and done that. Waste of money and time. Look to seperate the magnets more making your magnet axle longer.
